Calling all bowlers
MEN
We need more bowlers for the last mens, ladies and mixed games of the season. Please put your name on the games you can play.
The men have two more games. Saturday 24th is the return game away at Bilton. Please add your name by this Sunday if you can play. Wednesday 11th September is the last mens game at Leamington Spa.
LADIES
Helen is looking for more ladies to play at Stratford on Wednesday 28th August. We need a team of 12 to play 3 rinks. The ladies also have a handful of games to play in September. Please add your name to the sheets or online as soon as you can in order for games to be confirmed. You can apply now online for the Ladies Captains Day Thursday 26th September. This is open to all ladies.
MIXED GAMES
We have four mixed games coming up, the first being at Coventry Jaguar on Saturday 31st August. We need to confirm this game by next week so please add your names by next Friday.
We then have a return game at Southam on September 9th and two games with Ambleside on the 12th and 19th.
Lift share is available for those wanting a lift to any game.
Hoping all bowlers sign up and enjoy the last games of the season.
Regards
Helen
Crown Green Bowls
We have been approached by Kenilworth Crown Green Bowls Club to arrange a friendly match between our clubs. They will come to Lillington On Sunday 29th September to play lawn bowls and then we will visit them in Kenilworth on Sunday 6th October to play crown green bowls. The two games are played with similar woods but the rules are quite different.
If you would like to get involved in either of these fun fixtures add your name to the list on the mixed notice board. The game will commence at 2:00pm followed by drinks and a light meal. Dress code is club kit if you have it but if not casual will do. You only need 2 woods.
The Kenilworth players may not have played on a flat green before and likewise many Lillington players will be unfamiliar with a crown green so it could be very interesting. I’m sure Lillington players will be helpful in explaining our rules to the Kenilworth players and they will do the same for us.

Tombola Charity Presentation to Mencap
Lillington members and visitors who generously supported the Tombola during our Bowls Big Weekend Open Day on 26th May this year, raised funds to support a very local charity.
Our chosen charity, The Heart of England Mencap in Valley Road, supports people with learning difficulties to have time away from home by providing short breaks and respite, personalised to suit individual needs.
Sufficient funds were raised to present them with a much needed air fryer package for their kitchen area.
Our thanks go to John Buggins and everyone else who helped him in organising the Tombola and purchasing the air fryer which was presented to the charity on 26th July.

Dog waste
The green team would like to thank members who bring their "well behaved" dogs to the club for clearing up after them but please can you not put dog waste in our bins. These are cleared out by volunteers who take it home for domestic collection and they are not happy to deal with dog waste. There is a council bin adjacent to the bottom car park where dog waste can be deposited.
