Start of Coaching Sessions

Dear Members,

We are a few weeks away from the start of our outdoor season and I would like to give you “heads up” on dates for events that your Bowls Committee are arranging during May. Start of Coaching Monday 5th May from 6pm for all bowlers to refresh areas of their bowling technique and to address any aspect with coaches where additional support is sought. If any member has friends or family who may fancy giving a try please encourage them to come along starting this evening.

Lillington’s VE Celebrations

Sunday 4th MAY 2pm

To mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, we are holding a Bowls Gala followed by a cream tea. Please diary this date now.

The date has now been chosen as on the Monday there may be a street party and the ladies have a county competition.

Bowls Big Weekend

Our Bowls Big Weekend will take place on Sunday 25th May between 10am - 4pm. We hope that widespread local promotion will encourage many visitors to experience a taste of the joys of bowling and hopefully we able to welcome them again on Monday coaching evenings. This year BBWE is collaborating with Cancer Research UK to enable fund raising activities across the event weekend to emphasise the support which can be provided by the bowling fraternity. To play our part in raising lifesaving funds we are holding a Tombola on the day so any suitable prize donations will most appreciated - items may be left at club for my attention or contact me directly, as below details for any collection in advance.

May I also request your kind support on the day to spare any time you can to cover any of the following roles:

  • experienced bowling members to support our coaches

  • receiving/directing visitors to registration

  • serving refreshments (tea/coffee etc)

  • tombola - volunteers to manage ticket sales

  • bar service from mid-day

Shortly, there will be a list placed on the foyer notice board with the slots for the day if you are able to offer support - it would be very much appreciated to manage a successful event.

Please contact me if you have any questions on the above otherwise I hope to see many of you at the pre-season get together on Friday 4th April.

Many thanks.
